There is a good reason why this is one of the favourite activities. We tailor-made this activity so we target those tourists who would like to experience something genuinely Maltese; a real local experience. You will learn how to cook Maltese food from the expert hands of our Grandmother Karmena. Karmena is as genuine as you can get, she also produces her own goat cheese and ricotta! This activity will take place in a 16th century Monastery which is the perfect setting to learn more about Maltese history and our cultural background.
We will pick you up from your respective hotel from 9.00 am onwards. You will be greeted by our local activity guide who will explain in further detail what will happen during the day. On our way to the 16th century Monastery the local guide will also share some interesting facts about the place that we will be going to. At around 10.00 am we will arrive at our destination. For the next hour our local activity guide will give you a guided tour of the monastery. You will visit the Church decorated with some fine artistry, the library which prides itself in having 400 hundred years old handwritten books and other interesting features which are hidden inside this 500 year old monastery. At around 11.00 am we will meet with our special grandma. She is passionate about Maltese food and she is more than happy to share it with you. So for the next hour and a half we will be learning how to cook some traditional Maltese dishes from the hand of one of the best home cooks we have come across. After cooking, of course we eat. The local guide will set the lunch table on the roof of the monastery, to enjoy the majestic views of the grand harbour while eating the food you prepared together with some Maltese wine. At around 3.00 pm we will start our journey back, happy with what we have discovered and especially because our tummies will be full.
